About Me

Provo, Utah, United States
The scary thing about gaining weight is that you don't realize how quickly the pounds pack on before you're unhealthy and wishing for your old self back. Then comes the realization that you have an overwhelming task of getting back to healthy. So I've gone through a lot in the past 14 years. My health has really taken a bad turn but I am determined to turn things around and be healthy, active, happy and have a fulfilling life. So here I go. Starting now I pledge to be aware of what and how much I am eating, of how much I am exercising, of how well I am monitoring my diabetes, of how depression is affecting my life, and last but not least the sleep apnea and if I need more treatment. I know I will have obstacles because we all do but I am not giving up. No way. My mission is to keep it up and always get up after I've fallen. I may never have the best health but I am determined to have the best that I can so HERE GOES!

The beginning

All the pounds I don't want anymore

Thursday, December 17, 2009

I set my goal too high for last week as far as exercise but I still did exercise once and I lost 1.3 pounds. I meet with two of my sisters and my mom to talk about losing weight and set goals with them. We also use weight watchers to track how much we are eating. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. The hard part is committing yourself to keeping track of what you eat because it takes a some extra effort. I'm redoing my exercise goal but changing it to twice a week to begin with. I did eat more fruits and vegetables this week which helped me feel fuller and definitely helped me eat less junk food. So I feel like I'm on the right track this week. I am proud of what I accomplished and as a reward I get to buy something under $10 for the fun of it. Not treats of course! Oh my Grandma was there with us girls and we were talking about bras by Victoria Secret. So I tell the group that they don't have them in my size. Then Grandma says "I have a check for $46 and I know what I'm going to do with it. When you lose enough weight to fit into a Victoria's Secret bra I'll give you that money to pay for it." So there's another incentive to lose more weight. To get a great bra! Ha ha ha. Anyway feel free to make comments or notes of encouragement. Farewell till next week!

  1. Isn't Grandma just the greatest!! Good luck Barb! You can do it, I just know it. I can't fit into a Victori's Secret bra, either. But, that's because I've nursed 3 babies, and they're nothin' but envelope flaps now!
